What Better Stickies Is
BetterStickies is a desktop sticky notes app for Windows and Linux, with a macOS version in development. Notes live right on the desktop and stay on the device: the app works fully offline, stores everything locally, and needs no account. Notes can hold rich text, nested checklists, code blocks, screenshots and files, with reminders, custom backgrounds and multi-monitor support.
The free version has one limit: 4 note slots, and each extra tab inside a note counts as one of the four. Premium is a one-time purchase that removes the note limit and stops tabs counting toward it. No subscription, no recurring fees.
An Independent Project
BetterStickies is built and maintained by an independent developer. It started under the name OpenStickies and was later rebranded, keeping the same app and the same focus: a fast, private alternative to the dated or cloud-bound sticky notes apps most systems ship with.
Today BetterStickies is used by thousands of people every day, distributed through betterstickies.com, the Microsoft Store and Snap. Feature priorities are decided in the open on the public roadmap, where users vote on what gets built next.
